I do wonder what would have happened this season if we'd had a coach who got us fit, sorted the discipline and played brown at 9 and hoy in the halfs. I expect we'd be in a better place than we are now

Probably 10th, think all other squads are better than ours except Cas and London.

That was how i felt at the time, misguided belief clearly but at the time i genuinely believed that some of the new signings would have made the necessary difference to propel us forward, in some cases they have been good signings (our pack IS bigger and stronger than last year, Pele has shown glimpses of his raw potential and EseEse and Ashworth look solid albeit the latter hasn't played much, I got it wrong admittedly so i do certainly recant certain parts of that previous post as clearly it hasn't turned out well in anyway shape or form, what i will say however is i strongly believe we are heading into and already in the early stages of a hugely important and exciting period for this club. We didn't have the wealth we now appear to have last September so are now able to get business done early (Hardaker, Holmes, Briscoe, Asiata already signed on for 2025) with only one of those counting towards the quota spots and likely to see
Okunbur, Sao, Carlos leave on top of Hoy and Nu Brown giving us 4 quota spots
still to play with and a good chunk of that expected to go on a marquee 7 im excited, we are on the up again whether anyone likes it or not, there's not one fan who can claim otherwise as its not up for debate that a backline of what we will have next year plus a dream team top quality loose man and a marquee 7 with trueman also back fit to further compliment the aforementioned big back isn't HUGELY improved from where we have been past 2 or 3 seasons. Good detective work see you at Old Trafford somewhere down the line squire!

That's one positive with the signings of Holmes, Briscoe and dare I say Hardaker. If we fill the remaining quota places with quality then I would be pretty confident of securing a play-off place. That's a low bar but we have to be realistic in our expectations. Obviously that also depends who the coach is. What's the situation with Sao? I thought he had 1 year left on his contract.

leeds are poorly coached too. just being competitive and difficult to beat would feel like a massive step up

Fully agree, Jake. Partly why I’m not too concerned around the signings of Hardaker, Reynolds, Holmes. They’re competitors and give what have lacked for a long time in that department.

Becoming Fireman Sam isnt he lol? I don't actually know tbf but i think he will either retire and go that route or we may offload, Yeah the quota spots are ultimately where this next period is going to rely on hugely, If we go sign a marquee overseas 7, a top quality 9 and a strong quick running NRL 2nd row and maybe a strike centre to offer comp laces with Hardaker/Sutcliffe etc then we will be a million times better.

I look at Warrington as the blue print for where we are. Just change of coach and a few personal and look where they are, not a massive overhaul of players from last year, its amazing what can be done with a few changes, as an example take Rovers... if all a sudden they lost Mikey Lewis, Hiku, Litten & Minchella they'd be nowhere near the top and that ultimately can be the difference, just have 3 or 4 top top level players in those key positions

Good points and also the likes of Martin, Charles and Staveley have already been blooded and have the potential to be quality first teamers.

I've heard good reports on Armstrong and Wainhouse. Injury permitting It would be great to see both having first team action sometime this season.

Armstrong is back playing for the reserves so I'd expect him to play at some point once he is back up to speed.

Rovers releasing two hookers, can see them signing Balmforth.

Would rather sign Chamberlain than Hardraker.
