Not saying it’s not deserved but they won’t get another award for several years now, not sure how long it is, maybe 5 years before they can be nominated again.

Sir Michael Eavis. Apart from the positive cultural benefit the festival brings it also raises a couple of million quid annually for charity.

If we must have an honours system then people like Eavis and Sinfield such be recogised, my issue is with political cronies being rewarded. And don't get me started on life peerages.

Is it though?

A previous PM nominated his old man for a knighthood. It was turned down. Remarkably however, he did manage to secure his "special advisor" aged only thirty a life peerage. No need for achievement or service in her case that's for sure. Curiously many have pointed out that she is the daughter of one of his many of his ex's and indeed bears an uncanny likeness to the man himself.

Then there's the rather odd appointment of Lord Levedev of Hampton and errrr .....Siberia. To those unfamiliar with Lord Levedev check out his history. It makes for interesting reading.

Scrap the system. It's corrupt to the core.

Didn’t farage say on I’m a celebrity that members of the House of Lords get £200 a day even if they don’t turn up.They made Cameron a lord so he could take up foreign secretary and then her who lied about the ppe contract they got during Covid.I think Starmer wants to get rid of it if he becomes PM…I don’t know what’s worse…peerages for cronies or Starmer as PM

One of the politicians and business people who has been honoured and enjoy the brexit benefits including the minister for brexit opportunities.
