Not looked after himself while he's been injured:

Smith, meanwhile, believes the loan will be the best thing for Wynne. Asked if the decision was both fitness and game-time related, Smith said: "Absolutely - he's been way off in that respect. He got injured and he put on a whole load of weight.

"He's needed to shed some of that. It's put him behind in terms of match fitness. He needs to get that up to levels that he is capable of.

"The best way we felt to do that was a loan spell with Newcastle. When he gets fit enough and plays well enough, like all our players, he'll get a chance."

In which case the club are correct in their decision. It's up to Wynne now to prove himself.

Hopefully some time away from the club and the city will help him mature. Maybe not a coincidence that he became close friends with Josh Reynolds, not the best influence.

Jason Smith also chose when he wanted to play in his last season here. I’m sick of him being vaunted. He wouldn’t have lasted his last season under a tougher coach. It’s been going on for years but you were watching City in your short pants.

He was still our best player in 2004 when he played

I watched Wigan away from 2004 during first lockdown and he was even then a class above anything on the pitch including a certain Andy farrell

But atleast Wynne actually played with heart on his sleeve

Alot of players were a disgrace on Saturday yet will play Friday no doubt

Should be playing the academy lads I would

Wouldn't play likes of lane, Houghton, Evans again this season need to start sending a message out

Is heart on the sleave enough, after this you start to moan about Fash and Houghton, two players who definitely wear they heart on their sleeves.

You can't have it both ways.

The question is would Wynne get in to the 17 of sides like St's, Wigan, Leeds, Warrington, Huddersfield and the most likely answer is no. I think he's a decent enough player to be a squad player but his temperament/attitude may well hold him back.
Its all well and good wearing your heart on your sleeve but not at the detriment of the team and too often the good stuff that Wynne does is over shadowed by his loss of self control, and we have too many players that give dumb pentalies away as it is.

He's probably not been helped by what seems to have been a total lack of professionalism running through the playing and coaching teams the past few years.

Looks like we have a clause in Brown's contract meaning he'll be here in 24

Good news in my opinion, one of the few players I'd be looking to keep.

Looking at that list of players out of contract the number I’d keep doesn’t even hit double figures. Even one or two of those have to have big seasons and play more games than they miss to earn a new deal.

I don’t think anything other than a big change & clear out in the squad at the end of this season will make a difference.

AP & TS have to be ruthless and not sentimental with retentions this year.

Agree. Mammoth rebuilding job.

Anybody know who our top earners are who are ooc?

And how their wages earned vs performance stacks up, as these are the ones id be moving on asap. If were smart we could make 2 top second row and prop signings, but not overly xonfident with our ability to identify players with good ability and with the correct mentalities

Taylor, Shaul, Houghton, Griffin surely releases a chunk up, and foe me as the seniors in this squad theyve failed miserabally recently in showing leadership and effort, looking forward to seeing the back of them now.

Scott, wynne, Mcnamara, Lane and Fash, Savelio, Lovodua, Evans wouldnt be far behind depending on contract status.
