Playing in a curtain raiser for West Dock Ave juniors against Chilly Bomb Bomb (Chiltern Street Juniors) in Schools Cup, 62 I think. Winning then taking the bucket round the crowd and being told to Eff Off in the Threepennies. Got to stand next to my Dad in there though. Safer than the blanket collections at half time,
I remember a bloke used to wear a mortocycle helmet
and the Threepennies jeering him.

Not surprised it was target practice! mind you it encouraged more fans to throw a donation.

Watching us win the floodlight trophy against Rovers. The first time I'd seen us lift silverware. Fantastic night.

One of the first games I remember going to. 18th December 1979. My birthday and what a night. I was standing at the Airlie Street end and it was that packed I could hardly see any of the pitch. Luckily just about the only part of the field I could see was the wing Dennison scored.

Remember being packed in at that end. First “big” game I’d been to at Hull. Watched it on my tip toes!
First time I’d seen some skirmishes at a game as well (down Anlaby Road).

The Elland Road CC replay was quite an experience. Brilliant night obviously but I remember standing at the Kop end (Don Revie Stand now) packed in pens and you literally couldn't move which was scary. Tragically a prelude of what was to happen a few years later at Hillsborough.

Seem to remember it was a Fordyke organised coach trip which was lively on the way back as you can imagine. I didn't over indulge I only had 5 cans as I was only 14 and had school the following morning.

I was 16 on the upper back seat of a double-decker bus that departed from the coast.
8 cans of Norseman, snogging my 15 year old 'bird' all the way to Leeds.
Seem to remember a train-load from Hull arriving into the kop end after kick-off.
It was rammed with Hull fans in that end.
Great atmosphere under the floodlights.

My dad took me to that and i remember the M62 being gridlocked and people in our car was saying we'll never get there on time then a couple of cars went up our inside on the hard shoulder and the driver said lets follow them. God knows where we went but got there 2 mins before kick off!

I watched the replay, but not at the ground. I was working nights at a petrol station and had a tiny tv in the kiosk. By the end of the game I and around 20 other people were crammed in and shouting our heads off. What a night!!

We were late in due to traffic, and ended up in part of the Widnes end.

Once the game finished, and the Widnes fans left, at least of the third of the section we were in was FC fans.

Also remember going to see the team off from the Boulevard. Missed school for the morning. Because my school (Biggin Hill) was so into rugby (football was banned), they didn’t bat an eyelid. They also let me have the afternoon off on the day of the replay so I could go.

I have become , comfortably numb.

Another memorable moment was at home to the then Mighty Wigan, in a tense game, with literally the last kick of the game, Joe Lydon attempted a long penalty kick, to effectively close out the game in Wigan's favour. It fell short and was taken by Gary Pearce, who ran the ball back, easily seeming to evading tacklers, eventually ,passing the ball on to a rampaging Kevin Dick who ran on and gave the ball to Paul Macaffery to score and win us the game, in miraculous circumstances. We went barmy in the stands and Wigan were dumbstruck in disbelief. That game I believe saw Terry Reagan poleaxed by their prop Adrian Shelford, Reagan left the field after being concussed, only to return as a second half substitute. We could certainly do with players of his character now, he was granite.

Is Hodgson the new Griffin, or is it all about pace?

... a bit like this, perhaps.
