I really enjoy long walks especially when they are taken by people I don't like!

Pay as you play, fine... anything more than that, its another Adam Dykes scenario.....
IMO..

You can pick up injuries at any age, compare Chris Hill to Masi Matonga injury record.

Also cant compare with Dykes, he as a major signing in ionebooif the most important positions.

Wardle would beca squad player, one year deal see how it goes.

I can see both points of view however I'd argue you can justifiably compare any possible signing of Wardle to the Dykes situation not in terms of position but the fact we signed Dykes (even Head) who had a long history of troublesome injuries that had plagued him. This would be the same situation in that you are signing a player with a long history of injury and who has struggled to take to the field for the past two seasons at the very least.
I agree you can pick up injuries at any age but we aren't looking at a player with a good injury record its the opposite and it doesn't matter how good a player is if they can't make it on to the field there is no benefit.

So the risk regardless of position the player plays remains the same in what is a tight salary capped sport unless the deal reflects the risk the club are taking.

More than rumour it was witnessed/ overheard by Hull fans who have reported it to the owner.

Is Hodgson the new Griffin, or is it all about pace?

If Wardle signed and didnt play a game next season, I dont think it would have a big impact on our season, he isnt been signed to start, but provide cover and I'd imagine wont cost a whole lot of money due to his injury record.

Where if we signed Peats and he missed the full season that would have a greater impact on our season.

I'd guess we could get him on a similar salary to what Bowden is on, if he can get fit e have a good player on a small amount of the cap.

Presuming Fonua is going, then you've got Carlos & Griffin as first choice centres, with Scott, Wardle, Wynne and Ferrera as backup....better to have Wardle as a backup then the cap money and quota place tied up on Fonua.

Agreed, think Wardke offers us good back up in the backrow too, we only have 3 wide backrowers and our lack of options in that position often mean Mau and Savelio play 80nminutes and their performances tend to tail off in the 2nd half.

I have become , comfortably numb.

Re: What now? : Thu Sep 23, 2021 1:25 pm
Personally, I would have hoped we'd learned our lessons regarding signing crocked players. Let's face it his fitness record for the last four seasons is terrible and that doesn't tend to get better with age in RL forwards, especially. I know there isn't the large pool of players we'd like to dip into, but a signing who spends more time in the stands than on the pitch due to injury is no better than we have now .Injury prone players have cost us dearly in the past. We'd maybe have beaten Saints in 2008 cup final if Dykes had been fit, although his performance in the semi was largely the reason we got there. Points to desperation and is very worrying given the relegation changes to the league soon to be implemented, our alarming form in the last 10 league games should be a red light to all concerned.

I think it makes far too much sense signing Tyrone Peachey, who can cover Centre, Second Row, Loose forward and Halfback. And would be an upgrade on most of the players we have, which is probably why we won't sign him, was apparently offered to Super League clubs not so long back, surely the Fonua wage could afford him as I don't think he's on a massive amount. Like I say makes way too much sense
