Really good move this. It'll hopefully strengthen a traditional hotbed of the sport.

Agreed. We have had several great players with Cumbrian links including at least 3 in the Hull FC Hall of Fame.

Also with regard to the list of 30 players currently in the HOF a notable omission for me is Roy Francis. How he wasn't inducted is difficult to comprehend particularly as he is in the Welsh Sports HOF with 9 other Welsh RL players(Clive Sullivan is one of them) who I believe are in their club HOF.

Anyone know if Roy was ever considered?

Good idea, Cumbria is a very much an under developed RL area due to the long running problem of 3 small teams with no SL standard ground...but the passion for the game there is still very strong

What is SL 'standard' anyway, given the whole Cas and Wakey thing that's been going on for a long time.

I know Workington's (football and RL) sports village is going ahead but with a revised capacity (from what I read), it would have just about made it to what you'd expect to be SL standard with 8000 seats but the council have kicked the original plans into touch which has much bigger repercussions for both Workington's clubs.
Having a stronger RL presence in Cumbria would bolster the game no end, always tried to get to a game when holidaying in the region and there were plenty of dyed in the wool types, I think there's been a bit of a resurgence but it could gather so much more pace. Worky and Barrow currently 3rd and 1st in CH1 and they had a cracking derby game with Worky just snatching a draw.

Very nice part of the country but unfortunately the 3 clubs lost their chance of Super League when refusing to merge and I fully understand why they made the decision. I’d rather watch York than a merged Hull team.

It's such a massively difficult thing, never have the chance to be a 'big' club again and always be in the lower leagues, or worse, go out of existance or merge.
Your and others view doesn't surprise me, its that ingrained attachment, we have invested so much of our lives and for that to be broken in some way is devestating, I would however support a merged team but would never feel ill will against those that wouldn't.

Personally I would consider we ground share with KR than continue on with the current situation regards the stadium/Allams. I think it's a real anchor around our necks, not just financially, sometimes to move forward we have to take a step or two backwards.
