Re: Cas on Thurs : Fri Jun 11, 2021 8:34 am
Powerful performance last night, after a very low key opening , we really need to get Big Chris signed up, he was again like a rampaging bull, Cas could not control him, after the heartbreaking result against Saints we rallied to destroy an injury hit Cas side.

The mercurial Connor was outstanding after his leaden footed beginning, he may not be the best full back in the league, but he’s the best we are going to have, once again get his signature.

Not getting carried away, as with such a weakened opposition, we did what was required, big performances from Mahe, and Jordan Lane, Mahe has always been a better centre than wing, and Jordan Lane for such a young man, is turning in some consistency which leaves it impossible to leave him out.

Sneyd gets some stick, but without him we are a poorer team, anyone who’s seen him destroy the Catalan, and Wigan with that boot of his knows that, but like all good halves, he needs a good front row to capitalise on, without Tag, Bowden, Massi, the loss of Paea who never really got replaced, the last two or so years have been tough for any of our halves, occasionally like last night with Chris and Liggi dominating, Sneyd was driving us on, like Jake, Sneyd isn’t the best, and he has his limitations, but we would struggle without him.

Great to be back in an incredible atmosphere, Radders looking ten years younger.
I’m sure our friends at the disciplinary will further our problems, Leigh up next in another tricky game.

I agree, he looks to have developed into a really powerful carrier of the ball. He's been waiting patiently for a run in the side so it will be horrible luck if he is out for an extended period.
Its an AC joint injury by the sounds of it but I have no clue what sort of layoff that usually is.

1 - 6 weeks depending on severity.

Scott might have the slimmest of slim chance of playing against Leigh.

Hope we don’t cop any bans? Sure the RFL will be looking at the Sneyd tackle and possibly Grub’s attempted tackle which he got penalised for?

Not great is it?

In addition to last night’s fresh injuries, Grub looks like he’s still carrying his injury. Started the game heavily strapped up and was limping at times during the game.

I think Josh is a tough cookie and gets on with it, however that leg is not going to clear up if he’s playing every week and at this rate he’s unlikely to get chance to rest it.

Satae dominated Watts last night, not many forwards do that, in fact you could tell Watts had enough as he started to play more like a halfback then a prop (Although he set up more trys than their halfbacks)

I think Cas are well and truly caught in the cup final trap, Losing Watts or Macca would seriously dent any chance of cup glory,

I agree Dave, big Chris lost nothing in comparison to Watts, or indeed Walmsley last week. I really hope we can agree terms with him.

Thought Brad Fash was all over their forwards like a rash last night. If he had the height and weight he’d be the best forward in the league.

Fash made 126m  that must be a record for him.

if they charge them for that then they must do the same for cas' number 3 M'atautuia, off the ball challenge on Scott after he had released the ball causing an injury

Re: Cas on Thurs : Fri Jun 11, 2021 11:43 am
Some difficult decisions to be made on the side next week. The good news is we are playing the weakest team in the league. There's never a good time to be light on numbers but at least this is still a game we should win.

Obviously centre is the big issue. For me there's 3 options. Put Connor there, give Ferriera a debut, or put a second row there (probably Lane).

If Sneyd escapes a ban I'd go with Connor. I'm reluctant to move him from full back but I think that's the option that gives the best balance to the side. However if Sneyd does get banned I would rather keep Connor at the back to pull the strings, otherwise Reynolds is pretty much going to need to do everything.

If Sneyd does indeed get banned I'd like to see Ferriera get a chance. I don't think Leigh have anyone in their backline that's going to give him a torrid time. So let's see how he goes. I could also see merit in putting Lane there because, again, they don't have any superstar backs to exploit him imo, and he can probably do some damage running his lines a bit wider.

For me I'd go with this:

Connor
Faraimo
Ferriera
Fonua
Swift
Reynolds
McNamara
Satae
Houghton
Sao
Savelio
Ma'u
Lane

Fash
Brown
Johnstone
Vulikijapani

It's makeshift, but that starting pack should be too much for Leigh to handle really.
