Liam Farrell: High Tackle – Careless High tackle – initial contact with ball and chest.
Apart from no contact with ball and chest, just Griffin's jaw, they got that absolutely right. Quite amazing.
Exactly and this is the issue and when everyone can see the evidence that the impact is directly to Griffs jaw/head with no contact anywhere else they really are clutching at straws to defend Farrells tackle. Yet a week earlier Jake gets a ban due no doubt to the blood but that was caused by Hardaker clashing heads with McNamara.
All fans and players alike ask for is consistency in the officiating and the review panel and a level playing field.
I have no doubt that Jack Brown & Elijah Taylor have got away with a ban because they’d then have to cite Powell for his tackle and give a heavier punishment for his poor record.
The RFL really have to sort it out, one thing I would like to see is something like the NHL do with penalties/suspensions in having a spokesperson explain the findings and also the if the official has made errors acknowledge it and review to improve performances.
I said after the game Brown wouldn’t be given a ban as both Hicks & Thaler missed or ignored the other two therefore reducing the accountability to that one decision with Brown. This decision was made easier as we won despite the yellow so the scenario would have been different I feel had we lost.
What concerns me is the lack of acceptance by the RFL and Head of Officiating that mistakes are being made too often even with the help of video and how can the same tackles be viewed so differently not just in the same game but the same half.
