Re: Round 5 v Wigan : Wed May 05, 2021 12:26 pm
If people want to take the position that it has nothing to do with the RFL because it is an independent hearing I completely agree but for me after all that has been said in support of Kick it out, Black Lives Matter etc via the governing body the least they could have done is appeal against the leniency of the ruling because for most people me included, the comparison between what happened at Wigan and grabbing someone in the balls is just not comparable.

Is Hodgson the new Griffin, or is it all about pace?

Re: Round 5 v Wigan : Wed May 05, 2021 12:41 pm
... I'm not taking any sides, all parties are in a very difficult position, Wigan/Clubb have yet to make any statement.
Maybe the RFL are waiting for them to respond? Even the full transcript of the hearing hasn't been made public yet.
Who knows, but I'm sure the legal profession will be involved.

I don't think Savelio's twittering before any charges had been made will have helped matters either way.

The RFL tribunal regulations are very complex...

.................or at least distance themselves from the verdict.
the lack of a public apology is now becoming more offensive than the event itself.

...........no direct mention or apology to the player at the centre of this. A player who was visibly upset both during and after the game.
To me it looks like the only player who's wellbeing is being considered is that of the offender and not the victim.

He's expressed his remorse. Let's hear it then.

Exactly if he is indeed remorseful for what he said then by now he should have at the very least issued a statement and an apology. Its very disconcerting that Wigan have released a statement and in that it says Tony Clubb is remorseful yet no statement or public apology expressing this himself. The lack of this by now says to me that he remorseful for being caught saying it rather being remorseful for actually saying it.

If it were me and I was truly remorseful I'd have released a personal statement by now, its not like he hasn't had time to do so and I see no legal reason why he can't have.

Jens Lehmann has been sacked by his German club for a racist WhatsApp message, no messing around as soon as his guilt was determined he was let go immediately, football is showing us how to deal with it.

We just appealed in the heat of the moment, presumably.

More like desperation considering there was a possibility of a longer ban on a failed appeal.
If Mau was going to be fit then dont see the point but looks from this that he wont
