Academy Prospects : Mon Mar 29, 2021 1:23 pm
With the Cup Draw this morning, I wonder if Brett will look to take advantage of the chance of a little squad rotation to give some fringe players an opportunity. With this in mind, I looked at our squad, and we are a little light in numbers, so looked at the Academy squad, and a couple of names stood out.

Ewan Badham is a 19 year old Welsh prop. He definitely has the build and size to hold his own, and his YT reel looks outstanding. Anyone seen him play? Is he one of the twins that we signed from Wales - cannot see his brother in the squad lists?

Aidan Burrell - a young prop who Chris Satae had said all the Hull forwards had been very impressed with during pre season. At 17 he is probably a bit too young, but with some experienced heads around him in the Cup game, he could be given a shot.

I would perhaps expect players like Ferreira, Scott, Wynne, McNamara to get some game time too during the Fev game

I believe Ewan Badham ate his twin brother Ieuan and at 122kg now has the power of two men.

Although he isn't an Academy player anymore I'd like to see Wynne get a go against Fev. He can biff the flatcappers about a bit and his inevitable suspension won't hurt us in the league.

Hahaha brilliant post

But yeah they were the Welsh twins we signed. One went back home for some reason not sure, but I echo your post would be good to see some of the young uns.

He certainly does like to biff the flat clappers.
Am I right in thinking he was sent off for fighting against them in an U21 game?

Yeah he was, got a few head high tackles during the game then he just started throwing punches after another and got sent off

I was stood near the Fev bench and they all mentioned Wynne was a hot head and to intentionally wind him up to get him sent off.
It certainly worked.

Academy season starts this weekend and iv noticed in your team named you have a lad called Nick Staveley, he's a Stanningley junior who's been in Warringtons scholarship the last 2 seasons but didnt sign an Academy contract with them.

I imagine every club in super league were trying to sign him and it looks like you have, he's one of the best young talents iv seen, a 13 with great skill and an absolute bull. The two 17 yearold lads at Leeds...Morgan Gannon, who was class in superleague for us on friday, and Levi Edwards have been described as generational talents...Staveleys the same age group and he's right up there with them.

One to keep an eye out for you.

And he's very skillful, played a lot of 6 for Stanningley. His dad, also Nick, is an ex pro and absolutely massive himself, if you follow his social media, he does a lot lf extras with his lad which explains the size of him at 17.

He's a brilliant talent imo

Great post mattsrhinos 1978, thanks for the information.

It’s good news the resumption of the academy, and this lad was down to play at Wakey yesterday.
Gannon and O’Connor look excellent prospects at Leeds.
