With Fonua and Josh drinkwater the stand outs. He sorted out their leaky defence too. They made the play offs but they couldn't replace Drinkwater when he left to join Catalans. Listening to the Triple M podcast, it sounds like Wests have had salary cap issues the last few years. Cleary signed some duds, and McGuire is still trying to sort out the mess left behind. This means that they've had to run with a skinny squad, so Hodgson hasn't had the quality of players available in 2019 that he did in 2018. So the drop from 5th to 10th maybe isn't as drastic as it seems. |
