Sounds like todays the name, I also think one of the biggest bonuses will be that Smith will be allowed the chance to change the squad a bit for next season, certainly more than if we had kept Hodgson. Smith won't come unless he has a guarantee of being backed by Pearson to bring in his own people on and off the field.

With Shaul departing we will have some cap room. Not a massive amount though.

I’m pleased it’s Smith. I can see why people want Wane, but I prefer the style of rugby Smith will bring.
We’ve been crying out for a proper coach for over a decade, and we finally have one.

Interested to see the make up of the Assistants as well.

I'm convinced we will have some more, I'd doubt Smity would come in unless their was promise of some cash to spend.

I expect 2 or 3 new players to be brought in.

Maybe bring in Jullien too

They worked together at Wire. (This is pure speculation btw)

Julian and Longstaff would be ideal, gives us a last quota spot to play with.

If we did I'd try and sign an overseas 13, someone like Yates or Westerman.

Didn't know Westerman counted as an overseas player

I don't think Pearson can go ahead with spending 500k less on the cap now with the change in coach - he will need to support Smith.

With Shaul, Bowden, Ma'u, Reynolds, Gale off the cap - by my estimations that is a 550k off the cap as it is. Then when you consider we were heavily subsidising Fonua's wage to Cas this year - that is around 600k. Trueman is on a fair whack (heard 160k from a credible source), Hoy will probably be a good 100k+, Dwyer might not be too high, as his move to Saints fell through so may have been looking for what he could.

That's nearly marquee money for a player who has yet to fulfil his potential.

Harrison must be a brilliant agent.

If we are paying Trueman £160k then there's your problem right there.
