The other point to note is the relative cost of these established NRL coaches and their backroom teams. The NRL has had to impose a cap on spend on football departments- excluding player salaries; the average club spend is 6.3 million Aus dollars or £3.4m. Little wonder we see so few genuine top current Aussie coaches here. Craig Bellamy for example is on $1.7m p.a.

Again, sometimes this works and if it does they're off back to Aus pretty quickly. More often it doesn't, obviously. Not to say it's a bad idea, just pointing out that making the generalisation that this would guarantee improvement is flawed. |
