Another bitter thread about our wage bill.

If we are cheating I do wonder why we let 4 players go at the end the 2010 season and only sign 2 players.

These days all players are generally thought of as mercenaries, but in my opinion geographical factors and the fact that wire have a top coach and everything geared for success whereas if we're honest we offer a nomark head coach and a culture of mediocrity probably costs us on average 10-15% more on the cap for similar players than it would them.

You are most probably fully adherent to the cap, but the fact you club has such an extraodinary International playing roster from 1 - 17 is going to generate accusation, and not just on this board.

And Hull don't have big name players in there team?

The following are not small fry the first four on the list are household names in Rugby League here and in NRL

Long
Fitzgibbon
O'Meley
Berrigan
Cusack

Neither are these small time players

Westerman
Yeaman
Horne
Tickle
Radford
Lauaki

Spot on....Those first 5's combined salaries will far outdo our top 5 earner's salaries.

Westerman will definitely equal Myler....Yeaman probably on equal to Atkins & Bridge...Horne similar to Briers.....You could go through their whole squad comparing like for like.....Unfortunately, Hull don't seem to get value for money for the money they pay their players....

I make a bloody good point there if I don't say so myself.. can all the people who are saying Wire are cheats honestly say that if they were a player they wouldn't take 90 grand to play for Tony Smith rather than 100 grand to play for Agar?... over a 25 man squad that really adds up

If you are not part of the solution then you are more likely part of the problem...

Interesting point about Hull paying slightly more for players, I reckon it counts for Rovers as well in this instance. When you consider the bulk of SL players are West Yorkshire or Lancashire based I reckon both Hull clubs probably do need to sell themselves more then most.

That said I fully expected Westerman to become a Saints or Leeds player rather then sign for us so I guess we must have some appeal?

Its now down to the coach to deliver with the players he has brought in....

That and the fact we paid a fee meant we were able to avoid a salary bidding war... if we'd have waited for him to be a free agent he'd have gone elsewhere, as proven with LMS etc

Obviously same applies to Rovers in the geographical sense but if we're being honest they must look so much more ambitious than us and as much as I hate to say it, if you were a player with no attachment/knowledge of Hull and you had Morgan and Agar trying to sign you, there really wouldn't be any contest in deciding where you'd go.

I am not sure it is as black and white (pun intended) as you make it tbh....
