DM wanted to keep Parcell. Smith wanted Dwyer. Is what I was told.

Spot being so defensive

Dwyer can't be that bad, he was nailed on as Robys replacement until Roby spoke to Saints and basically said that they had just assumed he was retiring, but wanted another year, so they scrambled his extension through and left Dwyer in limbo

Parcell is a very good player, never understood Leeds letting him go. Ive never seen Litten change a game though and dont hold him in the same regard as the pther two.

Its all not adding up for me the whole situation. Rumours of players doing what they want, I just cant imagine everyone at the club allowing that to happen.

I cant understand Pearson firing the gun now when he could have done months ago to save our season. It wasnt a money issue as we brought players in.

Say if Hodgson goes and Smith came in for a season before moving upstairs I dont see how that works either. If your going to make him DOR them do that and appoint a head coach, why wait about ?

My issue with Smith is hes known to take his bat and ball home, he gets bored and has walked out on a few of his roles. Im not so sure he will drastically change anything, it was proven at KR hes not exempt to losing the dressing room.

Say if it does happen and come this point next season it doesnt work out, who gets the bullet then ? Another head coach or the same players who would be on the fourth head coach. Considering all those barring Last have achieved a hell of alot in the game at coaching or player level.

I mean Hodgson is on the thinnest of ices, he hasnt many supporters. But everyone cant be that naive to think a new coach is going to turn these lot around ? They are rotten to the core with bad attitude, they all have to be on the chopping block surely.

The problem with this constant strategy of sacking the coach is that some of the long term "club hull" players are now on effectively their 4th chance at the club (Radford, Last, Hodgson and potentially Smith) when it should be some of them being shown the door. Another year of having it easy whilst the new coach beds in and works out the problems at the club

Pearson did give Hodgson a shot by bringing in the loan signings and clearing the decks to get Hoy early (only for Pongia's concussion to scupper that) and then signed Smith. We tried to sort 2022 out but it just didn't happen aside from winning at Magic.

Yes Smith does spit his dummy out but even if he does that a year or two down the line I think its likely we will be in a better place. Even though 2022 didnt end well for Rovers he's still left a good foundation for the next coach.

Could be a possibility players are paid off, if they don't step onto the field they don't go on the cap, but it is of course wasteful to do that particularly when the club is short of funds.

As much as people want change, bringing in a temp coach isnt the answer.

I think it's a smart move, our next big appointment needs to the benefit one, getting Smith in for a year or so allows us to choose the right man and have some input from a very experienced rugby man.

I'd back us to finish top 6 next year with Smith in charge next year.
