Clarke has zero input on recruitment, like everyone else on this board, apart from the financial side of any deals.

I accept that but I would imagine he's the man now responsible for sorting the logistics and paperwork out regarding recruitment, not identifying players.

As I’ve said a proper replacement for motu Tony is crucial especially with a squad rebuild on the horizon but it looks like we’ve missed the boat

Its better to have an established Aussie coach in place who can also attract overseas players.

some posters keep banging on about the "Aussie" thing, why does nationality come into it, when did we last WIN anything with an Aussie in charge?

Haven't the last 8 major trophies have been won by:
McDermott - British 3
Radford - British 2
Wane - British 2
McNamara - British 1

I also don't think you get many "established Aussie coaches" here if that's taken as current NRL head coaches and for those that come, more fail than succeed (obviously, only 2 major trophies up for grabs and 12 coaches ).
