Sounds like all the attributes of a second rower to me, plus Ashworth and Okunbur, plus Lane playing in a mobile pack, what’s the concern. Announce a commanding scrum half and ESL is ours for the taking.
He’s had one or two games in the reserves and has looked half decent, huge step up to super league and if he was any good he’d have been playing at a higher level already, that’s the concern. The one year deal suggests we aren’t necessarily convinced either. We need an already established SL/NRL second rower someone like a Whitley but that sort of player seems well out of our price range at the minute. Lanes form has fallen off the edge of a cliff the last couple of seasons after early promise. As people have previously stated, Lane, Fash and Cator all in the same 17 is a huge problem.
Okunbur smacks of a panic buy, when we lost out on Alick and Blore. Out of our current signings only EseEse and Walker that bring any real genuine quality, Pele is a project doesn’t do a-lot of minutes that will have to improve.
The halfback is crucial or I can see another difficult year ahead. I’d be whiling to give anyone a chance, anyone not named Brandon Wakeham.
As I said he would the other day he’s come out and said we are at full cap, either he’s lying or whoever is charge of the squad has absolutely no idea what he’s doing.
