Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out and proudly proclaiming `Wow, what a ride`
What an odd post. I don't think anyone is 'writing off' any of our 'loyal players', merely speculating as to who might leave and expressing a preference as to who they would retain. If we are to progress, we'll need to improve the squad for next season. We won't win the league with the squad we have currently, however 'loyal' the players are.
Whilst I see your point Rock God the point I was trying to make is the fact that this team this year have given their all, through all the injuries accrued they have come out fighting for each other and for our club. Don`t you think that the players read whats posted on these forums? Speculation as to who stays and goes brings discontent as the Agar years showed. Yes we need to strengthen but not to the detriment of moral. We need to source the better players but who at the seasons end is available and better than what we have. Pearson hasn't got a potful of money to spend on new players so its up to Gentle, Hay and Radford to bring out the best in what we have. 100% effort is all I ask of the players, they already possess the required skills has they have shown. The emerging talent are thriving on the chances given, the next batch are coming through fired up and ready. Give them time.
Advice is what we seek when we already know the answer - but wish we didn't

Manu, O'Meley, Aspinwall, Martin, Lyne, Turner, Burnett and Moa all to leave I've heard. As well as Tom Briscoe to NRL. Rumour is Manu is waiting for a NRL club, or a top SL club to come in, Turner is leaving because of McRae's influence. He didn't rate him and sold him to us when he was at Salford remember. O'Meley misses home as well as Moa! Lyne, Burnett and Martin ain't good enough. Be happy for us to recruit a top centre, crooks as back up. Rumours i have heard so dont shoot the messanger!! Hope they are not true as I hope we keep Turner and Manu. All the rest mentioned other than Moa and O'Meley won't be huge losses.
You hear a lot of stuff, apparently, jehull.

I believe that Mason will get his passport." On Gareth Ellis: "More chance of us getting Agar back. No chance of us getting him."

Quality ownage there Mrs B, given your archiving skills, it would be unwise of anyone to make any outlandish claims

Yes, they have. Though I wouldn't expect anything less from professional players. That doesn't alter the fact that some of them won't be good enough to take us further.

I'd imagine some do and some don't.

Rubbish. Speculation as to who goes and who stays is part and parcel of what takes place on a fans' discussion board. Professional players won't give a shinyshit what the fans' speculation says - all that matters to them is what the club thinks.

So if we replaced Tony Martin with Jamie Lyon (outlandish example), how do you think that would affect the team's morale?

It is, but you can only get so much out of a player with coaching. Eventually, they will achieve their potential and some still won't be good enough for a tilt at the top spot.

Our youngsters should of course be given time. But how much more time does, say, Mike Burnett need before it becomes blindingly obvious that he's not going to be a top end of SL forward? Should we also give Tony Martin more time? He's done well for us this season, but he's not going to suddenly get a lot better at 34 years of age.
