I don’t rate Cator, but is Shorrocks really much better? Just strikes me as another busy middle without much end product.

I think he is, offers more in attack and in defence in terms of aggression, while Cator is a great tackler, does he ever produce a big hit or win the floor.
In the las 3 years Shorrocks has played 28, 20 and 18 games for Wigan who have always finished in the top 4 in that time. He has also played multiple position, halfback, hooker and LF, so that doesn't help with his development.

I know a lot of people don’t rate shorrocks but I’d be happy with him this year. Consistent player who as Dave said regularly plays for a top 4 side and will bring the Wigan mentality.

If we’re signing Smith, Shorrocks, Ashworth players this year we have a good hard working base with some talent. But next year we need to work on signing some ‘game breakers’ as that’s what I think we’re missing. A forward who break the line with an offload or back who can make something out of nothing

Agree on the backs, although I think Scott is developing nicely. I hope Ese'ese and Pele can bring that from the forwards, hoping Okunbor suprises a few people too.

Catalans have signed Bayley Sironen. Think that means their quota spots are now full

Wasn't his reasons for leaving Rovers he wanted to be closer to the Midlands to be near his wife's family?

Not convinced Lawler is good enough for Catalans, I'd hope they have a young French player to be a squad player like Lawler.
