Not sure what your point is about the Milward comment, Milward was the coach, the role model. I would expect players do get off with cheerleaders but they are not the role models who are supposed to lead by example.

I think you are too hung up on holding people's past against them. Andrew Johns was a confirmed drug-user in his playing days but has worked in coaching with a few clubs now, Ellery Hanley went to prison and went on to a few successes as a coach, their past deeds don't mean they aren't respected by anyone. I'm not saying that Long will be a great coach, or even a good one, I just think it's wrong to state he won't be on the strength of a few stories and a twitter feed. Those who actually speak to him may find him to be very different than the impression you've formed.
My point about Millward was pretty much what you've just said. Acceptable behaviour is different for players/coaches, and Long will be smart enough to know that, so my point is that he'll know that he can't behave the way he has done in the past as a coach and will probably cease to do so.
