Think we have to start to realise he is Chamionship level and if his dad wasnt Steve McNamara i dont think he would have got as far as he has already.
There is nothing outstanding to see in any aspect of his play

You were suggesting that DH wouldn’t be good enough for us next year and we could recruit better. If Houghton retires we probably end up with Sam Powell and whilst he’s won a lot, I think he’s quite limited.

Andy Ackers would be best possible signing but would it be wise paying salford about £100,000 and would he want to relocate

My view on it is that if the club can find a quality replacement for Houghton without sacrificing anything in regards to the SH & SR recruitment then I wouldn't think Houghton would get another deal and he'd likely retire. If the club can't get a suitable long term replacement then I can see Houghton getting a 1 year deal and maybe someone from the Championship to replace Dwyer.

I think the fact, we have stopped looking for a quota hooker and signed another prop instead, tells me Houghton is doing one more year.

If we are signing someone from the Championship we might as well use Balmforth, who has played nearly all season there. Also think Cator could play there should Hoighton get injured.

Agree about Balmforth, but as just think if the club don't think he's quite ready for week to week SL games next season then we'd still need another 9 to help supplement Houghton & Balmforth as its a big ask to just go with Houghton another year older & Balmforth.
Agree that Cator or McNamara could do a job as short term cover but not if it were for an extended period, hence why I could see logic in possibly bringing in another 9 with more experience.

Rovers were apparently chasing Anthony Milford earlier this season. Don't think he's what we need, but could be available to UK clubs

ive not been impressed with milford this season,seems to have lost his zip.just wish we could sign kodi nikorima from same team.
