Heremaia and Seymour are as good as anyone else has signed this season. I'd have Heremaia over Hohaia at 9 and with a bit of settling in Seymour will be very good for us. These players know what they are doing and NRL teams never hesitate to bring through their young players when they get injuries rather than shuffle players about. I've seen 5 or 6 halves/FB's deputise this season and all have been pretty good. Thompson at the Cowboys and Stig at the Knights being the best 2 IMO.

McKinnon will be good if he stays injury free.

seen a bit of the warriors this year and hohaia has really been in and out of games, wheras heremaia has been taking a more dominant role at acting half, and the warriors seem to progress forward more when he is on the pitch

and to be fair to mckinnon, tim moltzen who replaced him at fullback has been excellent

I also think Seymour will be fine in SL. Its not the NRL (see Jake's comment re Green and Dobson). I have reservations abot Mckinnon too and cant see that he'll be any better than Phelps.

I think when he plays he will be noticeably better than Phelps. The only question mark is how often he'll play (which to be fair has also been true of Phelps for a fair chunk of his time in SL).

I agree that Dobson and Green have looked good, but also Orford and Herbert have looked poor. It will be entirely dependent on our results as to how successful they are as signings. If we perform as poorly as we have this season, I imagine all three will be deemed poor signings by most the faithful.

McKinnon is a far better player than Phelps, there's obviously question marks over his fitness but hasn't done too bad this year in that regard. And as you rightfully pointed out - Phelps has hardly been an ever-present.

Think all three of them will improve us. Heremaia will bring more control and be more direction around the ruck. Seymour should bring a lot more organisation and has experience. McKinnonjust needs to stay fit, if he does he will prove a great addition and will certainly improve our support play.

Still yet to see a better halfback signed by any SL club.

Gower is a risk as he hasn't played RL for a while and Sammut is not the type of halfback we need.

Halfbacks are at a premium here and the NRL so it would have been hard for the club to recruit a better halfback than Seymour. Also having Nicklas and Ellis will give us better back up options than this year.

Mckinnon is a much better FB than Phelps who did a good job, but is more of a utility back, he has played most of the season and had a couple of bad games then got dropped, up until then he was one of Wests better players.

Heremia I was critical of, mainly beacause I thought it was a waste of a quota spot, but know he is off quota and didn't rate him that highly, but the 2nd half of the season he looks a much better player so am glad to be wrong about him.

I hope he's given a chance to, Hopefully the new coach will drop anyone who's out of form.

I think there is a also a good chance either of our halfbacks will be injured at some point. Hopefully our new coach won't entirely change the team around to put a loose forward at stand off.

Re: Seymour : Tue Oct 04, 2011 3:39 pm
I believe we have signed vice captain from Seymours team which made finals. Isaac John. Not as much 1st grade but a few years younger at 22.

Reading up on John we seem to have scouted him well and getting a release from his contract. Only made 3 Nrl apps this year but then Seymour only made 9.

Looks like both clubs have picked up a bit of quality in the halfs, Seymour more proven however.

Will be good to see them go head to head.
