This is correct so provided we can agree terms with Moa he can stay and so can Obst.

The thing for me is if Horne gets injured then Nicklas should be the back up or Turner. If Seymour gets injured then Ellis should be the back up. Houghton and Heremaia is enough cover at hooker with Newton as an additional back up.

I just don't see the need for Obst, waste of money and he will want first team rugby at his age.

Me too, but surley we would be better with Obst than Heremaia?

Off quota and settled and is playing well at hooker.

It would give us another quota spot for a foward.

But as Heremaia is signed we need to be looking to offload Obst to use his salary cap space for a foward to replace Fitz.

What are the chances of Houghton, Heremaia, Horne and Seymour been fit every week?

The player who is your 3rd choice hooker and back up for your halfs should be on about half what we are likely paying obst.

I'm now wondering if the plan is for heremaia and seymour to be our half backs with obst and houghton interchanging at hooker with the intention of offering horne a contract he won't sign so will move on. There's a lot being made about heremia and seymour knowing each other's games

The Rugby Football League are in the process of reviewing the video that you are referring to. We do not condone behaviour of this nature and have contacted the player’s employer, Hull F.C., who have confirmed that they are dealing with the incident under their club rules.

But Heremaia is playing 9 and Seymour is playing 7 so maybe they mean from that perspective?

For me it should be:-

Horne - Nicklas
Seymour - Ellis
Houghton/Heremaia - Newton

No need for Long or Obst, spend the money on a british forward or two.

Right now we have Phelps, Long, Fitz, Lauaki leaving and have brought in Mckinnon, Seymour, Heremaia and Ellis. So we are short on forwards with not a lot of cap to spend as we have probably spent what is due to go out. We could lose Washy and Obst and then use that money to strengthen the pack.

We need to be careful we don't have too many play makers and not have the strong pack, a reverse of what usually happens.

I agree Paul but Agar wants options.

Having options is great but with the salary cap you can't afford to have players on decent wages sat in the stands every week

Why should he?

There's alot been said about Heremaia and Seymour knowing each others game because it's important for a hooker and half back to have a good partnership.

I think we need to see how it all pans out. It may be that players we expect to stay will move one but at this stage it looks like we'll have too much salary cap tied up in halfs and hookers and probably have too many players sat twiddling their thumbs in the stands each week. There'd be plenty of takers if we agreed to release obst but I don't think that's the plan

Obst might even ask to leave. Even if you discount the younger players Obst is still reliant on injuries to even make the 17.

Plus why sign Ellis and not have him back up to Seymour? Pointless him playing u20's.

I wouldn't be surprised if we have them (Nicklas, Ellis and Newton) on dual contracts.

Playing a higher level than u20's while in ft training and learning the systems.

When we signed Obst we only wanted to give him a year but he wouldn't come for less than 2. I reckon we will try and offload him, as clearly he will be surpluss to requirements

Because otherwise it's poor salary cap management and you end up with a squad full of 25 average players again.
