Been reflecting on how to put my thoughts tastefully. Obviously, from a Hull FC point of view, I see Agar's departure as good news, but it's still unkind to revel in somebody losing their job. I do still genuinely believe that he worked hard and tried his best, he just wasn't up to it. I agree with MMJ that the previous board did him no favours in the eyes of the supporters by keeping him on for too long and basically made him a target of fans' increasing anger and frustration, so much so that he was beyond the point of salvaging it no matter what happened. Maybe a change of surroundings will do him as much good as it will us.
Glad to see McRae back at the club, but also glad that it's not in a coaching capacity. I think that way would only spoil the memory of his last spell as I don't think he could do the job we need as a coach, but as a proper Director of Rugby I think it could work really well for us. I certainly expect improvement in bringing players through to SL standard going forward.
If we do get Peter Gentle, it will definitely show that we're serious. I can't remember the last time there was either a player or coach available that was attracting interest from/linked to multiple clubs that we won the race for. He seems to have a good reputation and CV too.
