Lets put it this way even if we had gone 12-10 up Saints would have raised their game.Extremely professional team.Last league game of the season with nothing to play for they could have gone through the motions but no they were committed in defence and as we know ruthless in attack although riddled with uncharacteristic errors.
We made handling errors but the way we play we were unlikely to score from the field position as we are poor in the opposition 20, but its far more likely in the field position that Saints made their handling errors and given their very clinical play they would have scored.
Three more tries and better goal kicking on the day and it would have been another 40 point defeat.
I don't buy the 'They would have upped their game' thing.
Saints put out a full strength team and it played at it's best. For a lot of the time we matched them, and as I said we could have been in front. Who knows what may have transpired, it would have given us a very big confidence boost. Instead of which they come down the other end, and get away with what was a blatant knock on, and score.
The main difference was that whilst Saints punished us for our errors/penalties, we failed to capitalise on a, very, sustained period of pressure in the second half, and made errors at crucial times.
