Waiting to make an announcement after tomorrow's State of Origin. I'm guessing.

I suppose this is the down side to signing younger overseas players looking to make a name for themselves.

Mini and Manu were nearer the end of their careers and much more likely to see out the contract they signed.

Clifford is hardly what you call young
He is now 25 and 26 in January which for me is one reason he wants another shot in the NRL.
If he stayed here and went back to Australia as a 28 year old i guess there wouldnt be as much interest in him,

Starting to get worried now, we need a new no7, new pack, new hooker, new winger and doubts about Hoy's hamstring at fullback...even if we pull some good signings off it might take them all time to gel.

Cant see Hoy playing again this season. We will have to bite the bullet with him like Wigan did with Field
Should never have played on Sunday.
Playing with a strapping on your hamstring is a sign the player is not comfortable with the injury..

Agree.

The NRL is a production line of talent. There will be a lot of younger half backs with the potential to be just as good if not better than Clifford.

In his mind he needs to return now before someone else overtakes him in the pecking order. If he fails no big deal he'll be back in SL in a couple of years time with a host of clubs chasing him.

I’d agree. The earliest he’d be back is mid August and then would risk the chance of it going again and then going into the close season with an injury. I’d be inclined to let it heal fully and then get a full pre-season in.

If we make the play offs it would be a bonus. I’d rather us see out the season any young fringe players some game time and experience as opposed to bringing in replacements this season.

I expect the non replacement of Evans and probably Griffen, is an opportunity to recover some of the financial losses we’ve incurred in recent seasons. This is understandable, especially with us playing catch up after our start. Better to balance our finances, rather than chase unlikely play off success.

Well, if that is true, then it looks a little bad on Clifford's part. Such a hard decision, blah blah, and he's announced to the team last week he was going - and nothing has even been signed! Imagine if NQC change their mind, or get offered an alternate target - then what does he do?

more on Clifford reading that it doesn't sound like they are taking him back to play regular first grade more simply as cover for their frontline halves. Would seem a strange move to go back to play reserve grade unless he feels he can push his way to be a starting half for them.

Sounds like Wire just pipped us to Fitzgibbon, the fact there seemed to be very little to suggest we was in the hunt shows how under wraps the club are trying to keep the clubs business (I am personally not against it).
