People keep saying these things as proof of investment but let’s look at the facts.
Yes we must have paid some of the remaining 6 months of Hoy’s contract. If it was made clear to him he wasn’t getting another next year though it was in his interest to get something sorted elsewhere long term so I wouldn’t imagine it would have been a huge pay off. Brown simply walked away and I’m sure Ock and Pele found a new club before we released them. We might be contributing some wages but it’s not out of the realms of possibility that Bradford are paying them what they’d have earned at Hull without the needs of a pay off. Even if we are, we’ve wasted money on player pay offs before it’s nothing new, it’s part of the reason why we are in a financial mess.
The Myler links are intriguing, but maybe we just take it on face value that he seemed keen on the job and because of his inexperience in such role he wouldn’t have commanded a huge salary.
As for next years recruitment, look at it objectively and to me it just seems done on the cheap yet again. They’ve traded off wages with much longer contracts than they’d get elsewhere and whenever a player is in demand from another club we’ve lost out. The Lam talk was just a rumour, nobody knows if anything what he was offered.
