Are they though or is that Smith just isn’t up to the job? Quite honestly there is absolutely nothing to suggest he nor whenever implementing anything since they arrived and I dare say we’d see little difference if they were released and we ran a team that didn’t train and just turned on game day.
We will get absolutely mullered on Friday and there is no life in the club at all, it is rotten to the core.
We all know, fairly obviously, that we don't have the greatest of teams right now, but even with everything that has happened so far this year this squad (as low-quality as it is) surely isn't as bad as these past two weeks seem to indicate?
No black & white was ever expecting this squad to be challenging for honours this year, but tonight we find ourselves somewhere below our lowest hopes for the season. We've suffered consecutive fifty point defeats to two sides who, with all respect, are themselves unlikely to be top dogs come September. It's not as if we've just been thrashed by Wigan and Saints (we still have those joys to come).
I tried to stay positive for as long as possible, hoping that this was all part of some rebuild which would at least bear some fruit, but Smith has to go. Whatever he is doing (or isn't doing), whether it's because the players simply aren't listening (or have gone on strike effectively) or whether it's because he has just lost the plot completely, there has to be a change somewhere in the set-up and quick. I know this is a bottom four squad, but as the very least they should be competitive with an ability to carry out the basics to at least a level of competency. The fact they can't has to be laid at Smith's door.
This is now beyond merely a bad run of results, we are in an existential crisis in which the continued future of the club as a viable force within the game is now at stake. The next few months could, potentially, decide whether or not Hull Fc remain as a functioning RL club, it has now become, in my eyes, that serious.
I'm with you Chris, if need be sack the entire coaching staff and the players can take it in turn every Thursday afternoon to pick that week's 18 man squad. It couldn't produce a bigger shambles than what we are witnessing right now.
This forum shows that a significant section of the club's hard-core supporter base are on the verge of walking away from a club that, in some cases, they have followed for decades.
The time for action, something, anything, is right now or the consequences could be absolutely catastrophic.
