For me the time has come for the core group of players to be cleared out. Houghton, Taylor, Griffin along with Johnstone and Gale. I’d put a question mark on some others such as Lane, Carlos even Connor (if it’s true he’s messaged Radford about where he’s playing etc) and a warning to Wynne about his attitude and petulance.
I think Hodgsons time is also up as he just doesn’t seem to have the personality to get tough with the players, tell them how it is in blunt language or have any real ideas as he just looks like a rabbit caught in the headlights. Purtill is another that should also be shown the door.
We need a uncompromising coach who isn’t interested in who you are or what you’ve done in the past but just in what you do in the present and how you perform and doesn’t pull their punches. One who demands pride, effort, commitment from his players at all times and won’t accept anything less than their best regardless and without excuse.
Some players out there should not wear the shirt again after last night so called 2nd half display and I say display as I can’t even say it was effort.
A lot of fans on here won't agree with me but if Shaun Wane wants it I would have him the job in a heartbeat. A proven winner who demands respect.
I don't like to say it because he seems like a decent bloke but Hodgson is not good enough to be a head coach. Keeping him or replacing him with another unproven assistant will make no difference. Hodgson is only part of the problem. The next coach to be appointed could make or break us for years.
The money that has been earmarked for new signings should be used to get the best proven coach available even if it means spending under the cap.
It's been the same old rubbish for the last 5 years. I accept defeat especially if it's mitigated due to a stack of injuries but not yet another capitulation. There's a load of players that need to be let go who are contracted next year but there's no way we can afford to pay them all off. It's the same in football if the team is doing crap you cannot get rid of all the players at once so the manager gets the bullet. Sometimes unfairly.
The crowd last night was made up of the hardcore fans desperately trying to get behind the team. If changes are not made now even those will walk away. Times are hard for a lot of people and are going to get worse.
I've got a lot of respect for Pearson as we all should have for what he's done for us but he's made mistakes like any owner in business has. He's no fool and can see we have made no improvement since Radford was sacked so he need to make the change now.
