It’s been pretty much confirmed as not happening anyway but no way are the reported wages out of line with what others
are likely earning in SL. I don’t know what he’s on at Huddersfield but Clune (Our number one 7 target last season) only played a similar amount of games and is a fair bit older. Aussies command a decent wage to come here, and if you don’t pay you miss out. It’s not a million miles away from the reported wages of Trueman and Abdull. If a SL club does eventually pick up Sullivan I think it will be a good move.

Clune kinda proves the point...

There is a salary cap still. £2.1m + 100k allowances minus £300k (on cap) marquees minus a fair few other 6 figure salaries doesn't leave a lot left for the rest of the squad. Needs to be spent wisely.

Adam is still paying salaries for players long gone and looks like same might well happen again with Richie.

I'm seriously conflicted by Abdull's signing. There's no doubting his talent and if he stays fit I think he'll be a real asset. In addition he's non quota and if I'm correct only counts 50k on the cap. However, I simply can't understand that a half back can carry that much weight when training everyday and I would assume following a diet. He's 28 probably entering the peak of his career and never addressed it. Hopefully Cartwright will sort him out.

Abdul wouldn’t have been my choice, but with his salary only costing a fraction I can get behind it a little. As long there is quality signed as a result in other positions. He’s a decent enough player. I feel a lot is riding on Cartwright’s passion for fitness…

:D Yea it's marmite signing. But if he can keep fit and this year he's played most games than I think he can be a good signing for us. Let's see how he looks at the start of the season and see how he performs before slagging the bloke off.

I agree but with the best will in the world there's only so much a coach and his conditioning team can do. The onus is on Abdull.

There was an interview with him recently where he said he that he didn’t really do a preseason this year so was a bit behind the 8 ball. Then Catalan decided to work on fixing his injury record by popping him on a programme focused on bulking him up. The idea is to work on his ability to perform movements under more load and improve his physical capacity. Pretty hard to have him cutting whilst doing that.

Surely, should Catalan be successful in building him up. We’ll be able to focus on getting him cut for 2025

40 years of hurt. He'll still have his betamax tapes to comfort him. Bless.

I hope you are right but pre season or not he shouldn't be carrying that much weight.
