Swap deals
The rumour mill has been in overdrive this past week about potential swap deals and coaching hires. There has been wild chat that Jake Wardle is headed to Wigan next year, but the club has denied it. There has also been talk that Wardle could instead be off to Hull FC, if Huddersfield can agreed a swap deal for Jake Connor. Tony Smith is wasting no time in his new gig, if that one comes off. Speaking of Smith and rumour is that he had arranged for Chris Thorman to be his new assistant at the Black & Whites, but for some reason that has now fallen through. Could former Wakefield boss Willie Poching now assist him at Hull FC? They do enjoy a great relationship. Speaking of Poching, and one source suggests some of the Trinity players weren't happy with Poching, and wanted him gone. Regardless, his axing caught many in the sport by surprise. There's also been a rumour that Catalans halfback Josh Drinkwater could be headed to join Wakefield, but the player himself has denied that. We also hear there will be an assistant coaching vacancy created at Leeds Rhinos very, very soon.
