Powell is average, offers less than Houghton, looks better than he is because he plays for a team that usually dominates.

Rumour on Casforum that Dwyer is off to them on loan.

I know he's off at the end of the season, but can't see it

I can. We know he is going, and it isn't like he is irreplaceable within the squad, with many able to be the back up to Houghton for the rest of the year - Ben Mc, Joey, Balmforth, Cator at a push.

If TS doesn't see him playing much for the rest of the year then what it does do is free space on the live cap, which means we may be bringing someone in or it might give room to play more young players.

It could be the live cap that is preventing Balmforth/Armstrong, for example, in getting game time. Although....losing Evans 95k a year off the cap should have done that!

The first 7 words in your post sum up Powell, if we really want to improve we need to look at bringing in players in key positions that are an improvement on what we have & would improve us, for me Powell fails in both aspects.

If its true then I wouldn't lose any sleep in him going as the first coupe of games apart I have been disappointed. Think it been noticeable in the lessening time he has been getting that he hasn't been performing well enough. He just can't seem to adapt to play within a system/structure consistently and far too often for an experienced player he takes the wrong option or goes the wrong side due to his headless chicken play.

Very surprised Warrington are resigning him as that would suggest they see Walker as their main 9 for next season.

Absolutely I would, Mcnamara will likely cost less, is a homegrown player and has scope to improve his game, Powell is steady, would cost more and wouldn't improve us at all. We should be looking for a 9 that would improve our attack, Powell for me wouldn't do that.
