but then you could also argue that with a dominant pack the backs get more space.

i'd like another centre/winger in the squad, but I'm not despondent if we aren't getting one. And who knows who will become available mid season (particularly with the financial difficulties at some clubs)

Pretty much how I see it. We could do with another back now Raynor's gone but we will need all the forwards we have got and we don't have too many.

He was on 90,000 a year, so surley we must use it?

looks like the club will wait on this.if someone becomes available, then it will be used, but they may also wait either 1)see how injuries pan out during the season and 2)see how the likes of reece lynn develop in training.

i personally think that reece needs another year in the reserves, but at some stage he may get his chance.has jodie broughton signed for anyone else yet?i think he would do a decent job as backup to briscoe and calders.nothing spectacular, but quick, and young enough to improve.

We're holding that back so rovers fans can try and justify why we make a profit next year.

Re: Raynor??? : Sat Dec 19, 2009 2:04 pm
A big dominant centre would be great and we do look a little light in the backs but we have some quality, albeit youthful quality, and we do have some flexibility/cover

Tansey
Calderwood
Hall
Yeaman
Briscoe
Whiting
Turner
Lynne
Briscoe
Tuffour

We also have big Willie who would be a great centre if needed. That's not too shabby at all.

We have 9 backs with SL experience and have 7 places to fill each week. Lynne, Briscoe and Tuffour may be great prospects but have no experience

Paying him off the last year of his contract will take a chunk out of it.

Plus it counts on the cap.

Take kindly the counsel of the years, gracefully surrendering the things of youth.
Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune. But do not distress yourself with imaginings.
Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness. Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself.;

Salary cap

Any money paid to Gaz Raynor in settlement counts ( IRC) on the cap, so we may not have saved much if anything. I do not think this is an insurance payout job either and I would not expect any further statement from the club in regard to this matter.
