for gods sake, lets get this season over and done with, before we start moaning about next season.
Sooner the better
Whilst I think they are going over the top with their negativity, as I don't think the signings are as bad as they are making out, I still think it's important that we sign at least two exciting signings, Cartwright, Abdul and Rimbu aren't in that category.
A couple of weeks ago the HDM ran an article saying they expected 2 more top end signings, this will have come from the club, so hopefully it will still happen.
Add in 3 more maybe 4 depending on walker, with two of them being top end players (SL standard) and we should be fighting for 6th position.
People forgetting new coaches and off the field staff coming in too, make not make a difference, but you would be suprised if it didn't based on the last 2 years of coaching.

People also forget that we have been running on a shoestring until a couple of months ago, any top SL players will have been signed up well before our investment came in (Johnstone, McMeeken etc...) so we're having to make kind of stop gap signings until we can recruit some real quality, but those signings (Hardaker, Holmes and even Briscoe to an extent) aren't going to relocate halfway across the country for a year, so we're stuck between a rock and a hard place this year.
It seems the club can't win with some people, they'll moan if things stay the same but then will moan when the club try and make changes. We're not going to be able to overhaul everything in half a year, we're moving in the right direction tying our youth down looking towards the future. The alternative is panic signings looking for a quick fix which we know from experience doesn't work.

The part in bold for me is exactly how I see it, then add in the mess we were in prior to Mylers arrival who has actually started the process of undoing the mess and getting the club/playing group back on a solid foundation to be able to build from. I'm pretty sure there will be certain improvement targets set that have to be met next season and as much as I hate to say it, realistically next season is pretty much a transitional year. As long as we see significant and structured improvement next year then I will accept things, as I'd rather see real structured improvement/rebuilding than a plan of sign some top players in the hope they'll improve things alone. I think the delay in getting what the club felt was the right Head Coach in Cartwright may not have helped in terms of already being behind the 8 ball for signings for 2025, but hopefully his impact will prove to be significant and outweigh that moving forward.

Agree 100% next year we need to be targeting around 8th place and maybe a lucky draw for a decent cup run. Myler has done the right thing in waiting to get the right coach in especially after getting linked with some very uninspiring options (McDermott, Grix, Lam etc..) I think we have to hope Cartwright can install some steel and resolve in the squad and improve what we've got here, having Asiatas leadership around the squad will also have a big impact.
Can't see why people can't understand this, they want Myler to ign top class domestic signings despite coming after most players where signed by other clubs.
The key this year is getting domestic players better than with have, which we have done and having top class overseas player, who we get value from.
I'd hoped the days of signing unknown and risky quota players where gone, both Stewert and Rimbu are very big gambles, neither played top level rugby before.
How we use our potential last quota spots is massive.
I'm told that the first dictat from our new coach has been made loud and clear in that any new signing has to be willing to live no further than 20 minutes drive from the training ground!

Craig Lingard has alluded to this in his press conference this week. Saying how the UK market in terms of signings for next season is pretty much done and dusted.
