T We had a great opportunity in 2016 to kick on but we didn’t we sat back as a club, were sentimental and undid all the good work that got us to where we were in 2016.
I guess signing Kelly, Griffin and Connor was a step in the wrong direction.
When we signed Kelly it was a bit of gamble at the time as we know due to the issues surrounding him at the time with Rovers. Griffin came from a club that had struggled for a while and only just escaped relegation in MPG and Connor was a young raw talent. In all fairness to them at the time they weren't players you'd class as top drawer. Even to this day some still bag Griff and Connor.
Ellis we were never going to be able to replace as he is a once in a generation player. We let go our best and SL's best forward at the time and never really replaced him though.
We also signed a season or so later players such as Langtree, Nzoungou, Miloudi, Dawson-Jones etc.
Since the signings of Pritchard, Manu, Fonua and Tuimavave our signings compared to the players that have left I would certainly argue have not improved us more that we've stood still or gone backwards a little. SInce 2016 the game has changed and moved on yet we stuck to to same mould and didn't move or adapt with the times. Even now we still try and flog an aging Houghton for 80mins every game which offers us very little and we don't even have a player capable of replacing him or even just to improving things in a game.
Since 2016 season we have fallen further behind to clubs at the top and been caught up and past by a number of clubs that were below us.
