Maybe 1 thread ‘to rule them all’ ?
Adam is ‘re-energised’ although I don’t like the sound of not being
Energised !
IMO Myler gets the gig because he’s 100% linked to
a very obvious investor with CASH.
Head Coach - without any shadow of any doubt
it has to be a Aussie aged 33-42 approx who has
Maximum ambition but has worked in a Comp like
The NRL which is 20 years ahead of SL.
New players - wow where do we start ?
Albert Kelly was a GIGANTIC player in 16-17
Sneyd was a craftsman
How do we find players like that ?
What Id really love is a 6’ 2” 15st centre with pace to burn
We haven’t had a Centre that scores 18 tries a season for a long long time , if ever. Big fast centres are like your horses in
Chess ! You need them and they’re vital.
Let’s see what any new Head Coach thinks and
I am certainly of the opinion Adam is staying based
on comms that I’ve seen.
Could we finish 6th this Season or am I smoking
dried cabbage leaves ?
My take on it is this:
Adam Pearson Re-energised: Let's be honest, we've all lost energy where the club is concerned in recent years due to how things have been. I'm sure it's no different for our owner so I don't really see that as a problem. If the prospect of a change of direction and investment has re-energised him, I think that's great.
Richie Myler: Absolutely agree he's probably getting the job because of Thirkill which I am taking to mean that it's a done deal that he's on board. If it's just a coincidence, I'll eat my hat (someone will have to buy me one first though!) as it feels like such a left field choice otherwise considering he's still playing. Whether he's going to be any good in the job, who knows, but I will be keeping my fingers crossed and welcoming him to the club.
Head Coach: I don't think it necessarily has to be an ambitious Aussie from the NRL or anyone associated with the NRL. We've tried that route before (Hodgson, Gentle etc) and it's not worked so I don't think it's a guarantee of success for us. What I think is most important is that whoever the new head coach is and wherever they come from, he absolutely needs every resource he can be given with a full backroom staff and the max cap for the squad (including marquees). If we don't do that, we might as well already hand them a P45.
New Signings: I think we shouldn't get too carried away yet or expect too much, too soon. I would be quite happy with some short term deals until the end of the season, blood the youngsters, and just let the new head coach see what he can get out of the existing squad whilst our DOR targets longer term signings for next season and beyond.
Playoffs: Not a chance we're finishing in the playoffs this year and I will gladly eat another hat that someone can purchase for me if we do. Let's just let the head coach work on getting the players fitter, more cohesive, balanced and structured without any pressure this year. Start laying the building blocks so we're challenging in the long term.
