There are many different levels to the NEBOSH Health and Safety, I passed the Certificate first and passed the Diploma part 1 and its never really given me any benefits.

Bad times indeed. All the best over there in Hull, Black and white or Red and white..... I was in same situation in the early 80's. Redundant 3 times in 2 years. Worst feeling in the world.

If 'Joetwizzy' is one of 90 to loose their jobs then he should speak to his local Jobcentre and ask if he can access the 'Rapid response fund' That number of people will be treated as a mass redundancy situation. If he wants to retrain and knows the costs of courses etc., then he might get help with the cost of re-training.

we've just got someone £1000 towards a complete forklift package, if you are eligable (HU1 to HU9) and have been made redundant after october 2008

How much is a course like that in full? Dont want to seem miserable but if the course is 5k and youve got them 1k towards it im pretty sure most people wouldnt be able to do it still.

There is nothing to pay, the full Forklift Package was funded.
