I really enjoy long walks especially when they are taken by people I don't like!

I know it a tight market but as suggested if we are supposed to have offered Ashworth a regular place in the 17 its as exciting as watching Britains got talent
We are still running with Small lightweight forwards like Lane,Cator,Fash and Brown in our 17 so if our overseas forward acquisitions are not sustantial in terms of quality and size then we may as well say goodbye to the 2024 season.
One in one out for Satae,is no different to what we have now.
Think we should forget about a nine and concentrate on bringing in 2 front rows and a second row to give us some size and hopefully the go forward we need from the forwards which we are so badly missing now

I get what you’re saying but I’d say what Watson has said should be taken with a pinch of salt in regards to guaranteed a regular place in the 17. Think we’ve seen already that isn’t the case no matter who you are.
If Ashworth comes in for this season it will be a plus with Evans gone and he was more miss than hit when here. At 6ft 3 and 16.5st he’s same height as Trout and couple of lbs heavier so he’ll certainly add some much needed size.
I’d also like to think with losing Satae we’ll be bringing 2 big forwards in along with a 2nd rower.
We were already in need of another hooker regardless of Dwyer staying or going due to Houghton likely retiring and Lovodua not getting another deal. Would think when Dwyer signed a 1 year deal we’d Habsburg been looking for a new 9 for 2024. Think Balmforth may also still be here next season.

I think part of the problem is since the days of Horne, King, Cooke and Yeamo there hasn't been anyone from Hull with their class and gone on to represent GB in test series vs Aus/NZ.

We also only seem to be able to produce players who are small especially in the forwards, when compared to teams like Leeds and Wigan, we can't seem to produce an Oledjski (spelling) or a Havard/Byrne/Nsemba size wise. Players like Fash, Lane and Cator are great but ultimately not big enough to become top class international forwards.

Agree but surely the increased investment in youth since 3 years ago will start to kick in soon? I dont think the City Of Hull Academy era did either Hull or Rovers any favours

I hope so, there seems to be some great young players developing over in the academy and scholarship teams, pearson has put a lot of money into this area and it looks to be bearing fruit. Shenton could prove to be one of our best signings in recent years. He is very highly thought of within the club.

The investment in youth has been one of the more positive things to happen at the club over the last few years.
It’s also coincided with a real rugby coach coming on board, and pulling together all the good work done by Riding / Shenton.
I’m more excited by the real talent now coming through, more than any big name signing.
It’s still relatively early days in our process and structures as well.

Amusing how Watson gets all salty when talking about departing players.
There’s no way Smith will be guaranteeing any new player a spot in the 17. He’ll have to earn it like every other player under this coach.
Like others have said, if Savelio could get back in favour, and find some constant fitness, it would fill a gap in the squad. And potentially saving a quota spot.

Wonder if Dwyer gets announced next week, after we’ve played Wire?

Just seen the Blore link. Fits our supposed profile of overseas player. He's just come back from an ACL though, not sure how his injury record stacks up. Would we be swapping one Savelio for another?

Wests fans rate him highly, suffered the ACL injury when they thought he was going to have his breakout season. I think he would be worth a go - good age
