Fair enough but I wish you had seen the penalty try Thaler once awarded against us at Wakefield a while back. The ball had been kicked into the in goal area the Wakefield player was nudged out of the way after he kicked it and with no Wakefield player anywhere near Rovers kicked the ball dead. We were told afterwards that a penalty try can be awarded if IN THE OPINION OF THE REFEREE a try would have been scored and so if Thaler thought it would have been a try then it was a try. No bull I reckon it was a 1 in 10 chance the Wakey player would have scored but Thaler thought different so was within his rights to award a penalty try.

I reckon Hall would have got to the ball first of course you can never be sure he would have and you can't be sure he would have grounded the ball IN MY OPINION he would have so if I was the ref it's a penalty try. Seeing as though Thaler saw no fault in the Hull player hooking his arm around Hall's and pulling him back then he was never going to look further.

My understanding of penalty try has always been that it has to be a virtual certainty. That's why they are so rare.

If IN THE OPINION OF THE REFEREE a try would have been scored it is a penalty try. ATEOTD it can only be a matter of opinion and the only relevant opinion is that of the referee who in this case didn't even see the offence in the first place.

I'm thinking of putting a bet on a double of FC beating Saints and Rovers beating Wire on Monday what do you reckon?

i've seen a facebook thread saying a rovers fan threw a glass bottle outside the stadium which hit a young boy, who was also a rovers fan. the boy had to have some surgery which went well. Post seemed to come from a family member. I'll try to find it again - to see if it has developed as a hoax or not
