TBF nobody would expect a game to be called off in South of France. Why spend thousands of pounds on something you'll hardly ever use. I live in Mallorca for most off the year and its been snowing for the first time in years but i won't be getting and form of heating system because i will hardly ever use it.

Oh I understand why nobody will be installing undersoil heating down there any time soon. But some pitch covers would hardly break the bank (and might even have been available - that's not clear) and not watering the pitch would have been a sensible move.

Has anyone considered the possibility that this might all be Richard Horne's fault?

I can understand the cover 100% but theres been no confirmation about no covers and them watering the pitch, unless i've missed it ?

12 hours, where the hell did they fly from/to.

Guessing he meant from players leaving home to arriving at hotel in Perpignan via Manchester airport (?), Barcelona and coach?

BTW - some interesting information from a couple of Catalan fans on the VT and Catalan forum this morning. Definitely sounds like incompetence caused the game to be called off, but on the part of the local council who run the ground rather than the Catalan club.

Really?

Because this:

I've heard the watering system was attacked by the ice who made some malfunctions, but why the city of Perpignan (Catalans aren't the owners of Gilbert Brutus!) didnt put out this system ??! They say they wanted to have a more flexible pitch for the night, but rugby league is not played on ice, but on fake pitches and snow this year

Sounds more like an equipment malfunction.

As I said, we basically know nowt about what went on

But still 12 hours seems like an exageration from Mr Pringle.

You need to read that again, preferably in conjunction with his post on the Catalan forum. He doubts the 'malfunction' excuse and questions why the sprinklers were even in use at the time.

Confirmation from an official source? No. However the same story is coming from a variety of unofficial sources including Smailes, FC fans who were there, and Catalans fans. Not to mention the photos and video from the pitch inspection.

He's from Hull so impossible, definitely Will Sharp's fault.
