The South in-goal area looked at least a yard shorter on Friday. My Dad suggested that maybe because our kicking game is so rubbish, it'll make it harder for the opposition to try and even things out.

Its not just the in goal

I know people who had a seat on the '5 yard line' now their seat is dead in line with the try line

yeah were we are in the East stand you could tell that they pitch was shorter - I sometimes take pictures of the pitch so I'm going to try and find a recent one, and one from Friday to compare

The 20 metre to 40 metre distance was around 17/18 metres I'd guess (at both ends).
