Does beg the question as to what kind of business makes their marketing manager CEO?

Think he might have been Marketing Director. Not sure.

IIRC it was something of a surprise at the time. Lends weight to the view that he basically looked after marketing/admin and all the major decisions were made over his head.

All of this defence for rule gives me a sense of de ja vu when people were defending first agar and then the club owners pre pearson's take over

I don't think there is a defence of Rule, just an acceptance that AP is nobody's fool, and if he feels Rule is the right person for the job then we see no reason to doubt him thus far.

I don't like JR, he's a self-important Hymers type with an ego to match his daft hair style, but I don't think he's doing a bad job at FC.

There is plenty of defence for rule on this thread

Bloody marvelous, AP is like a breath of fresh air after all the spin and crap we have had in recent years.

JR is next on the leaving party list as I reckon we need a complete sweep of the club to remove any traces of the last administration. The whole club has to be purged of mediocrity, the milk cow mentality and become more customer ( fan ) focused

For year many of attempted to point out what the old mob where doing , milking us dry and for years we where shouted down. Disloyal, unfaithful and un grateful to those who kept the club alive, true they did and now it would appear that debt we have repaid many times over.

I am filled with releif when I see the new owner coming out with these sort of statements, after years of under funding and being sold short we may at long last be on the verge of a golden future.

One I hope we can all share and enjoy a brillaint secure future together

Seems AP has got one hell of a big broom and this is a now a new chapter in our history. After reading that statment of intent,i for one cannot wait for it all to begin on the pitch. It feels great to be a Hull fan and be back hopefully where we belong and that's at the top.All Hail King AP.

Judging by pearson's statement then I'd have said that the club has performed poorly in pretty much every area but profitability, which it hasn't done that well in considering the chronic underinvestment. Seems the reason we've been posting profits is because we've been penny pinching everywhere to the detriment of the club as a whole. If you think that's some kind of vindication of rule's capabilities then you have a different view on things than me

Exactly the point i was trying to make, The CE is responsible for all areas of a business and it is quite clear we have failed in many areas due to penny pinching and lack of investment. Saying we have posted a profit so JR is doing a good job is far too simplistic.

You don't understand. rule has only been involved in things that have been good (of which it seems there are precious few). Everything else was kath's fault

People like to fence sit until something happens then they can say i told you so, when JR gets his marching orders everyone will be on here listing his short comings.
The truth is as CE he has presided over a slow and steady decline on the field, poor recruitment, falling gates and a total demoralisation of the fans. The only positive he can claim is posting small profits and lining KH's pockets.

Recruitment has not been poor, certainly not for the past two years. The problem was the coach's inability to get the best out of the players.
