We've had some absolute stinkers in one way or another when it comes to signings in the past but never so many all at once. It just looks amateurish. How could anyone get it so wrong?
Someone said we made nine signings so is it just Walker, Ashworth, Ese Ese and Smith left?
It was obvious they had a ‘profile’ of player what they went for rather than doing proper due diligence on each individual player. They went for young raw players with size for the forwards and speed with Tindall. Even the star signing Brown was a utility player who’s never really established himself in a position, raw ability but not what was needed. Most don’t seem suited for SL or in Browns case the role we wanted him to play.
I fear we’ve just gone the other extreme now with the recruitment, not well thought out and short sighted. We’ve decided that having no luck with the likes of Pele and Okunbor we’ll focus too much on experience and proven in SL rather than quality and the obvious risks with ages and contract length. Hopefully the rest of the recruitment brings a couple of more dynamic players in.
