I think, for what it's worth, the younger players didn't come through because of clauses in their contracts that would trigger payments and the old lot didn't like the idea of paying "two people for the same job" sort of thing.

we shall see

Could very well be something in that and would not surprise me in the slightest. Suppose we will get a better idea next season when Agar is at Wakey, be interesting to see if he brings a youngster in or rotates half the squad to fill a position to cover an injury.
Could also be a reason why Sharp was so interested in utility players.

Firstly; sycophantic, propaganda, and culpable.

Secondly, people outside of the club have no idea for certain whether Rule is how you described or simply wasn't listened to. I think there are many who unfairly hold an association with the people he happened to be employed by against him. The fact is, he came to the club as a marketing man, and on that side we're one of if not the best in the league, as shown by our income.

I just hope that if Rule does stay in his position fans finally start to consider that he might be good at his job and an asset to the club, instead of just wanting rid because he's a reminder of Kath Hetherington.

That could all be true but I know if I were put in that situation then my integrity would see me walk away

Fairly sure he was brought in as marketing manager/director and later promoted to CEO after Plummer got the push. The two of them overlapped in 2007 at least I thought?

Does beg the question as to what kind of business makes their marketing manager CEO?

In the current climate, it might not be so easy to find something similarly paid. Everyone has to make a living and it might not be as easy as simply walking away.

I wasn't having a pop, just trying to be helpful. And he was brought in for marketing, he was Commercial Director and then 'promoted' to Chief Exec.

IMO it's a blinkered view to say that the organisation has performed poorly over the last few years, it has only performed poorly in one aspect, and that aspect has not been Rule's to control. I can only think of one occasion where he has outright lied, and it is a big part of his job to put the bright side spin on all of the goings on at the club.

And unless you are/have been involved in running the club, your last statement is unfounded, prejudiced nonsense. We can't know that at all.

Judging by pearson's statement then I'd have said that the club has performed poorly in pretty much every area but profitability, which it hasn't done that well in considering the chronic underinvestment. Seems the reason we've been posting profits is because we've been penny pinching everywhere to the detriment of the club as a whole. If you think that's some kind of vindication of rule's capabilities then you have a different view on things than me

The more this man speaks, the more I admire him. His statement clearly shows he is angry and having a dig at the way the club has been run in the past due to lack of investment by the previous board (or board member), just what have these people been doing? This statement has renewed by enthusiasm for next season and cannot wait for the journey ahead. Well said Adam

Maybe, but he's been doing the job for 4 years and I expect there may have been 1 or 2 opportunites in that time

maybe he was looking, just as someone gave him a nudge about selling the club whilst it was still going to make them a profit?
