Houghton will get murdered in the back row!

So i hear and this despite him playing all last season at hooker in the reserves

Mind you Hull are short of back rowers

Maybe because traditionally we've always tended to have good hookers, both in terms of producing them and the youngsters having quality ones to learn from.

We've also moved Washbrook from stand-off to LF, similar with Whiting, and Hodgson is now being pushed towards the back row as well.

I wonder if it would help if we brought in a coach who had been a real top-quality scrum half in his playing days? We've really lacked a senior figure who's been in that role for younger players to learn from, either on the playing or coaching staff.

Its a good point, though don't Hull currently have a former SH, albeit at a lower level, as head coach??? Though all the coaches underneath him were forwards.

And don't forget, we've got Kingy to fall back on as hooker as well.

We do, and I thought about that when I posted. I don't mean it to come across disrespectfully or to appear as questioning of his overall ability as a coach, but in terms of passing on the tricks of the trade to youngsters surely it helps if they were in your game to begin with? Agar was a lower level player (as someone else as said though, that's not intended to be derogatory. It's still better than most can hope for) and we're producing lower level standard halfbacks. Coincidence?

Point is Hull don't seem to producing any. I know people will say what about Richard Horne but everyone knows he's not a half back

When people were saying Hull should approach Salford about signing Myler, I remember thinking why do they need another hooker????

Its almost beyond a joke that despite having some of the countries best young halves over the past 5 years none of them appear to have made the grade in the halves.
