Having pondered over our activity over the past week, and thinking philosophically, I feel like the path we are taking is pretty clear
Myler in his interview yesterday alluded to setting a platform for the young players in the academy who the club has high hopes for (Armstrong, Wainhouse, Dawson, Westerman to name a few).
The sort of signings we have made compliment this, for all the complaints in this thread, there is no questioning that Holmes, Hardaker, Briscoe and Asiata are all better than what we currently have. And, Asiata aside, I have a feeling won’t be on significant amounts of money either, especially after been offered two year deals rather than the one year extensions they were being offered at Leigh.
This gives the academy talent time to develop, both physically and mentally for SL, and takes the pressure off them, preventing them from being thrown in too early, as we have seen with Moy, and to a degree with Charles IMO.
And in the short term, if we can pair these experienced players with marquee talent (Trueman, Asiata, potentially Whitehead) then we look a hell of a lot better than where we currently are.
I have liked for the most part how Myler has done his business recently. He’s got a plan, and he’s not afraid of ruffling a few feathers along the way. Long way to go, and of course a head coach to appoint, but for now I am confident this club is at least veering back into the right direction.
