| Quote Windy winger="Windy winger"Marquee signings don’t all count on the cap , so if 400k is right it doesn’t mean that we could spend all the that on say 3 more players. For me it doesn’t matter if we pay someone 100 k or 300k , as long as they are the right signing for the club . The club take care of the money side and know if we can afford it .'"
That's not what I mean,I know how the cap works. I rather use it for a transfer fee to bring in someone younger and still have money for a top forward.
If you look at the players leaving, cap isnt going to be a problem for us next season.

| Quote ComeOnYouUll="ComeOnYouUll"I'd be delighted with this signing. A genuine world class player who captained New Zealand as recently as last year.
I have a feeling this will be another Scott Prince / Stacey Jones scenario though in that despite being heavily linked we'll lose out.'"
My thoughts as well. Prince was all but done but had a better offer at the 11th hour. We don't want to be used to broker a better deal with an NRL team. This is all probably immaterial as I would be very surprised if we could get anywhere near his wage demands.
I'd look elsewhere.

| It would be massive and I mean massive for the club. Forget his ability on the field, his social media presence alone makes it worthwhile, he has nearly 4 times as much followers then the clubs account on Instagram alone. He could really bring the club together like Pritchard did in 2016.
Sure on paper 400k is alot for a player who could be prone to injuries but his presence off the field and in training will be massive, that's without taking into account what he could do on the field. He's worth the punt for sure, the club would be in a better position after he left.

With a player in the class of Prince, Jones and Marshall there is always the possibility that agents of said players use clubs in SL as a way to pressure NRL clubs and increase the fees involved for their player. I think I the club will be cautious of this happening.
What may tip things towards FC is the Wests connection at the club with BH, Ellis & Fonua. Time will tell.

| If we’ve got this type of cash, invest it in a half who will be here in say five years time, Trueman for example.
Are we really in need of this kind of gimmick.

Marshall's wife has a successful media career, not sure they'd be willing for her to give that up, or at least the TV side of it.

| I'd rather 'keep our powder dry', if I'm honest.
We should spend our money wisely .on a long term solution, not a quick fix..
IMO

| Think that's a sensible move, good that we are looking at the calibre of Marshall and Hastungs though

| Seems like a lot of lazy reporting and innacurrate information.
Laughed as soon as I saw the £400k a year , despite Aussie clubs offering $180-200k
Nice idea, but think we need someone who's going to settle in and stay around for a few years.
Just to add I don't think there are alot of options from NRL first grade, imo we l look for a reserve grade trying to make a name for themselves like dean blore who's out of contract at Penrith

| For me, this was always a talk with his representative that then gets exaggerated massively and he is signing on 400k!
I think this is more likely to be a distraction for the club to negotiate with the actual intended target, without the media interruption. Or, it is as a tactic to force that actual target in to a decision.
For example, say we are actually going for Kodi Nikorima. NZ Warriors may want his salary off their cap. We offer him 150k, he wants 200k - we say to NZ Warriors "you subsidise his salary for 50k per year and we will take him" - similar to what Canterbury did with Pritchard. NZ Warriors decline, and then media reports have us linked with Marshall. NZ Warriors get back in touch with club and say "tell you what, we will give you 40k a year towards his salary" - deal done.
Not saying this is what is happening, but these kind of things do happen - misdirection, strategic marketing etc,
