If you have been made redundant can i also recommend speaking to your employer if you are still on your notice period as they may already have received funding to re-train you but not passed it on. Also, if job hunting in Hull have a look here: http://www.reed.co.uk and type in Hull and search as location. There are a couple of hundred jobs on here. Also http://www.totaljobs.co.uk has 302 jobs in Hull currently.

My dad passed that this week, he said it was the most stressful thing hes ever done

It is aimed at management level so is not easy but with the right training you will pass

it may lead to jobs as:
Health and Safety Officer
Health and Safety Training

so well worth it (esp if it's free)

Good point well made. As an example of the benefits of this, I have just returned from doing an audit at a small company. Several of the questions we asked were H&S based.

They didn't have an internal Safety Manager, but a receptionist/secretary/admin clerk managed their H&S Plan & activities.
We asked about her expertise in this area & she said she was in the process of starting her NEBOSH training. We agreed this would benefit her & the company, and it assists us as clients to have someone full time with this qualification.
