Weak under the high ball, I think thats because he was against Richards. There isn't many better in super league better than Richards picking out cross field kicks out of the air.

I know, and it is easier to be running up to it rather than defending it.

The kick was perfect and it always favours the attacker as he was running onto the ball at pace wereas calderwood was jumping from a standing start. Did ok though looked to get in a lot at dummy half which is good for the forwards and could of had a couple of tries if Horne had been more aware, with him and yeamo we do have 2 very greedy centres!

Thought he looked unfit but worked his socks off.

A couple of errors but he certainly got stuck in, especially in defence.



A promising start, I think.

Some good cover tackles sweeping up some breaks they made...not a bad 1st game for us (could have maybe got a try if G Horne had put him in).

Thought he was pretty average. Didn't seem to have much turn of pace and, barring a one occasion, made little ground from dummy half. His defence was ok except for the mistake under the high ball. However, it's early days and hopefully he will improve.

His tackle in the first half on the Wigan centre showed his ability to read the game defencifly.

I was happy with what he did last night. The try from Richards was a typical effort from one of [ithe[/i best in the business on those plays.

He's never the sort of player to make yards from dummy half and if thats what the coaches expect then theyre useless and bought the wrong player.



He needs to be given freedom to roam and kicks to chase.



Thats what they did at Leeds and didnt do at Wigan.

For the first properly competitive game I thought he was okay.

I expect better from him.



Based on the comments made by Sharpy for the morning radio I was expecting a more disjointed game from him.

Appreciate that. Guess the game time will do him good. Look forward to seeing more of him with ball in hand, a couple of times G Horne was running good lines and Calderwood stayed wide, i'd have like to have seen him give G Horne the option of dropping him off.

With all due respect it was never going to be smooth on his first league game anyhow he'll need time to gel but then not knowing who your Centre will be won't help much.

Who is this Calderwood you all speak of...the only player I saw last night was called ALDERWOO!!!!!!

He didn't get enough ball last night imo and i hope that was a one off but he did come inside looking for it and got a couple of scoots in.

His defence apart from that one error was superb, he tackles well above his weight.

late in the game he just seemed to disappear and Manu was in his spot,i looked and then i saw him out on the left wing



Showed good team spirit by coming right across the pitch to see how Byrne was after he was winded.

I hope Calders can produce the sort of form for you guys that he showed at Leeds.



We never got to see the best of him here due to a couple of reasons imo, first of all I don't think Nobby really rated him and then he never really got the service he got at Leeds.



Our play under Nobby is pretty basic rugby and even the likes of Brett Dallas would have struggled with the style we play.

Correct but calderwood would have a higher wet to dry ratio (just made that up) than the average back

I thought it was a bit odd 'Alderwoo' not clapping the fans with the rest of the team after the match. I've never been a big fan of Calderwood but he plays for us now so I must warm to him. Thought he did well whilst being outplayed by a local youngster

I thought that too but then again, he was limping very slightly and I think the cramp he got near the end of the game was still hurting him. I think he just wanted to get to the dressing room to get it sorted.

Is there a winger who reads a game better than him, whenever there was a break he was there to effect the tackle. If we can get the ball to him in space more often he is going to be a great signing. No negatives from me tonight as I cant see anyone else would have stopped Richards scoring as I thought the kick was better than inch perfect and Richards arrived at the exact moment the ball did to snatch it from his grasp

I know he didnt.



A week before that game and that right centre spot could have gone to one of threee players and may still change game by game.
