Home end sold out at Wigan with not many left in the Leigh end. Have to say when Leigh got mentioned as an SL side in the past I was dismissive of adding another team in the Wigan area but I've been proven wrong and it's a better strategy than the scattergun expansion teams the game has wasted money on.

And in more damning state of the game news...Barrow have sent out a rallying call for new funds, but worst of all the owner is claiming that they year they made the most profit recently was 2020 when they didn't play, everyone was furloughed and later in the year the ground was used for private functions. So basically may as well give up being an RL team with the ever decreasing central funds.

Think it will be best if Wigan win tonight. We don't want Wigan coming to us next Friday looking to kickstart their season into life after an opening night defeat.
It'll be a hard enough game for us as it is without Wigan having any extra incentive for victory. It probably won't make that much of a difference in the end, but reverse psychology has it merits sometime!!

Pathetic squad selection from Salford.

Interested to see how Leigh go tonight. They've had a tough job replacing some big hitters.

It's really not a good look is it, increase your profit margins by not playing RL is hardly the stuff to fire the expansion of the game, even in one of its heartland areas. I'd love to see IMG fashion a catchy slogan out of that scenario!!

We had some decent battles with Barrow, late 70s - early 80s, it is depressing for the game as a whole to see clubs like this struggling to even barely survive.

Wigan team is so good. Be interesting to see how the youngsters come through over the next few years cope as most of them may not get a look in. Could be some real assets to pick up.

Thats one hell of a dummy spit out from Salford. Maybe the new owners are frustrated but it just seems a bit petty to me, we all know that they were under sanctions until everything was ratified so the owners must have been aware it would be close getting it sorted for the start of the season. The daft thing is they have enough talent the 1.2 million squad they put last week would have been competitive and Saints look far from unbeatable. They managed to fit Cross, Marsters, Macdonald and others last week they could have easily made a game of it.

As for Leigh they’ve lost a few but Armstrong could be a real superstar. All due respect to Leigh I think it’s a Clifford situation, he’s way too young/good to be playing SL, NRL clubs will be watching closely.

That Salford 21 squad list is pathetic and embarrassing. This is something that is down to no one else but those running Salford. The RFL have bent over backwards and extended deadline after deadline and this is what Salfords attitude is.

Considering they’ve been bailed out by the RFL who advanced them half a million quid to keep them alive this is a poor way to show appreciation.

Feel sorry for the Salford fans but hope the RFL and clubs ensure Salford face consequences for their pathetic action.
